OUR MISSION
The Mountain Climate Fund supports mountain communities and environments adapt to climate change.
Our Story
We have worked with Indigenous and remote mountain communities in the Himalayas for over a decade. Together, we have solved problems in water scarcity, climate, conservation, and sustainable tourism.
During this time, we have witnessed the worsening impacts of climate change in the Himalayas. Temperatures have increased twice as fast there as the global average. The ensuing rapid glacial melt and retreating snow lines are threatening mountain communities and their future. In 2022, we formed a new nonprofit to specifically tackle this immense problem.
We have also witnessed the incredible resourcefulness of mountain communities. Over thousands of years, they have adapted to the harsh conditions on the top of the world, thriving in one of the most austere environments on earth. While climate change is a daunting challenge, with support, we know they can overcome this as well.
